Freedom is an illusion

Freedom is an illusion
Isn't it
When you are 14 and asked your opinion
You give it
Then most of the time
It doesn't count for anything
Or
You're told you're wrong
When asked if you want to go on a hike
If you say no
You'll go anyway
Because
Your dad does
And so do the neighbors
If your mom asks for a favor
You do it
Because
You don't actually have a choice
You go to bed at 8
You do what you're told
When I was younger
I was asked
What I want do I want to be when I grow up
I said an astronaut or a vet
I was told how hard that is
Or
You can't do that
I never got support
I was told I'll be a lawyer
Without a choice
Now I want to be an actor
Let's see how that goes
Because
Freedom is an illusion
Until you learn what it really is

You are one in a million. That means there are 320 of you in the U.S. Find yourself. Create an army. Overthrow the government of a small midwestern town. Hi... I am a spoken word poet and that is the format the majority of my work will be. Some of these are work from the heart and some I did for school. I am a actor, a horseback rider, a sister, a member of the LGBT+ community, and an extreme introvert. I love kids, Netflix, video games, my pets, and I suck at every language I try other than Latin. (weird I know) I'm a Pisces on the Aires cusp. I act a whole lot like it too.
