Freedom Runner

"Prepare yourself for a hell of a race." 3...2...1... the gun sounds off. Like a herd of wild animals running to escape, Yes, that's what we are, just a bunch of wild beasts. The fear of falling upon you face, push and shove to make first place. The lead at grasp, but what was is now gone. Feel the wind rushing by, feel the cool chill down your spine. Feel the eyes of the crowd waiting and watching for someone to slip up. The "thump" of the heart and the "thud" of the feet synchronize as one whole beat. Follow the path and feel the heat, "Come one now take the lead you will succeed!" "Stay with this pack and keeps a steady speed! Don't push too hard or you'll burn out clean!" "There you go, you're almost home!" Just a 800 left and I'll be free! "Let's go, a 400 left, pick up that pace!" "Don't look back, always look straight!" The end draws near as time begins to rise, others fall back with shoes untied. The rush is gone and the line has passed, but the crowd still cheers for the one who's last. "What a race, you've PR'd a wonderful time!" A time I thought I'd never receive, a time of 18:59. 3...2...1 "Bang!" The sound of the gun warns you to be ready, for there is no telling what will happen on the other side.
