Freefalling

Sliding down
the slippy slide
of life
falling faster
and faster
feeling as if
I’m leaving earth
and being flung
into space
freefalling
spiraling down
grasping for
imaginary handlebars
sliding my feet
to find a brake
to slow down
and not
burn out
