Freestyle

Wandering across the land

with nothing but my horse

A faint voice pulls me,

with some inexorable force

I approach cautiously,

For it may be a trap

After all I am a princess

A valuable target to kidnap

A large tower awaits me,

At the top a window with bars

In it a beautiful girl,

With hair the color of Mars.

She sings a sweet melody,

Of love long and lost,

Who would hurt this maiden

With eyes like first frost?

How dare these bars exist

Locking this poor maiden up?

I call out to her in question,

The response is a thrown cup

The sing-song voice says to me

“What man approaches now?”

My short and simple reply,

“None. For so I vow.”

The voice grew quiet,

Pondering no doubt,

“If you really are a woman,

Then please let me out.”

Many have come for me,

The cup is a test of strength

For if they can shed a single tear,

Then they will see my hair in all its length

A tear of compassion, for her situation

And her hair was revealed to me

It tumbled all the way down,

And rested at the roots of a tree

I climbed up her hair, much like a ladder

And fell into her arms

If just felt right,

There were no alarms

“I’ve been waiting all this time,

For someone who won’t make me wince.”

“Everything is alright know, after all

Who said your knight was a prince?”
