Frenemy
She is not the gentle rain that taps lightly on your windows.
More like the hurricane which tears through your walls.
Not the gentle warmth of a cracking fireplace,
more the searing pain of being caught in a burning forest.
Not the wide-eyes thrill of a shaking roller coaster,
more the trembling terror of an earthquake.
She is destruction given form, beautiful and horrifying
When everything she touches rots or rises from ashes.
When you can’t live with her,
but it isn’t living without her
Loyal to a fault,
only the fault lies within herself
Her spine is cracked,
her mind is shattered
There is no salvaging those lost in the ruins of their own making.
