The frick collection

Sitting in the garden,

Among the masterpieces of great artists,

There is a feeling of a new beginning.

The garden, itself presents a peaceful attitude

An attitude of welcoming people

An attitude of happiness receiving guests

An attitude of feeling home

On the faces encountered around,

There was a smile,

A smile indicating the pleasant feelings of art

A smile indicating the joy of sharing time with beloved ones

A smile indicating the joy of seclusion from the real world

A smile giving this garden its inner beauty

With all the pieces around

Pieces from great men and great men of all time,

It was just our world, peaceful and liberating

The mix of feelings and masterpieces just reminds us

How art no matter how small it is would never die.

Detehbe, The picture you're painting is one that I believe is beautiful! Although, I don't quite feel like you've used all of the colors on your palette. As a poet, your words paint a picture for the reader. Think of your poem as if it were a novel. Now think of your poem as an entire novel sliced into half of a page or less. Similar to the way a painter tells a story with each stroke of the brush, you must do the same with each word in your poems. This, like anything else worth learning, is not an easy task, but I promise you that your poetry will be on a completely different level once you begin painting! I challenge you to paint in your next poem. Here is a link to an awesome article that explains each technique: http://voices.yahoo.com/imagery-writing-metaphors-similes-personification-164889.html Also, don't forget that you have plenty of resources here on Power Poetry! Under the "Resource" tab at the top of your page is a subtitle that says "Famous Poets". I encourage you to see how they use each literary technique as well! Keep writing and stay in touch! I'd love to see your progress!
