Friction

The past is just that; a place to visit but not dwell

I’m still standing even though I fell

I don’t know which direction I’m going, where’s North?

I must be brave, I’m still going forth

The future is only as clear as the window I see through

Without a plan I have nothing to believe in or do

The string that ties my life together is loose

I’ve tangled myself into a noose

If it’s a race I’m off course

Steering takes all my will’s force

Pull myself along, I have a train to catch

Don’t leave me, you’re the friction to my match

Oh, to live and not just exist

You hold my heart inside your fist

So much power for just one soul

You could empty my mind into a bowl

Along the way I lost my senses

Didn’t expect a gift with pinned expense

Lying in my sanctuary; my bed

I sort the lies inside my head

I’ve known only a dream

My fantasy comes apart at the seam

Flick on the light switch

My heart needs a new stitch

Can’t stop the circle of life

Won’t die, I’d rather live with a heart embedded knife

Even a tree grows around the nails

Can’t stop, slow down, nomatter my fails

Cry till my scars fade

Memories must leave a mark to show they’re made

Going, going, gone

What’s done is done…
