Friday night.

It's Friday night again,  still she smiles.

She knows that this is forever,

these Friday nights.

Friday night movies, pizza, out with friends.

Not her,  Friday night Netflix, still smiles,

often find her laughing

Friday nights out with your love

holding hands,  a kiss good night.

At home she holds her teddy bear,

smiling, being strong.

For her, Friday night is medication

delivered by needles and tubes.

Still smiling and laughing

until sleep takes over.

I sit beside her talking,

through the hours, sometimes pain.

it's Friday night  for my dear sister

the one who has courage to smile.
