Friday Night Tradition
Blood rushing, heart pounding, excitement in the tunnel.
The cheer of the crowd just beyond the door.
I hear the fans calling my name as pride fills my soul.
In our huddle we start the chant; “Hit the beach!”, “Go to war!”
Coach’s words pound through my head, my cleats glide along the turf.
Time for the kick off, starting this week’s competition.
The ball changing hands with every play.
Third quarter, then fourth as the clock runs down to zero.
A smile crosses my face as my brothers in blue ring the victory bell.
Another week and we finished the job.
Columbian football is our pride... our Friday night tradition.
