A Friend in Need

Tears streamed down your cheek.

At that moment, your world felt bleak.

You felt empty,

Your heart yearning for others' empathy.

Then I outstretched my arms wide

For you who sat and cried.

You asked me, "why?"

"Why do you choose to stand by me?"

I told you, "there's no other place I'd rather be"

"with you in my arms, smiling beautifully."

"Why do you wish to be with me?"

You asked again,

"There's better people you could talk to."

And I said,

"Because I love you."
