Friendly Fire

“she’s never coming back”

that’s what i was told

last night by the moon

she whispered it to me

voice like honey

words like razors

you’re never coming back

so why do i keep

lighting candles in my windows

and praying

you’ll find your way

back home.

                                     back to me.
