Friends
These are the people that make my day,
The friends that
Stay by my side,
Day by day,
Loyal to the ultimate fault,
Lies came from my heart,
And yet they still believed me,
Despite my defects
My lies began to kill them
And poison their minds and hearts
Until we were all buried
Beneath the black, sooty mess my untruths had cultivated
I had caused all the suffering,
And I had to correct it all
Determination had never been so strong
The night I saved my
Friends
From my own tangles lies
I sought them one by one,
And opened their hearts to the light
That had penetrated mine:
Truth
It was different for each of them,
The first was easily opened to the truth,
The second was grudging in his acceptance,
The third fought me with her sheer will, and lost
We were all saved by Truth
My friends and I
Are closer than minds can think,
Hearts may be able to understand,
But my friends are truer
For their allowance of
My request for forgiveness
