Frigidity

Why do you shun the gentleness in me?

Is such affection scarred within you; is it a reminder of pain?

I am not your pain. Will you not let me love you?

Your fear is a shield against my love; lest its mere touch enlighten the shadow which haunts you.

I am sorry that you struggle to trust; to believe in yourself, and in joy.

My fear is that none can perceive clearly my care, for they know not how to be loved.

For they have forgotten how to love.

In this darkness I feel the grasp of their abyss.

I have no choice but to cherish of you that I love, from afar.

Beyond the stinging nettles of your fear, I hope.

Such is my love.
