The Frog (before the Princess)

How should I start this?

Once upon a time…

Well gee that’s original

But at least it’s gonna rhyme.

Once upon a time there was a frog

Who could not secure a wife

He hopped from rock to rock

And had searched his entire life.

His family was full of singers

The best croakers in all the land

But all he could do was jump around

He was kicked out of the family band.

He grew up in the baeau

Where every animal sings

Once he knew it wasn’t for him

It was time to spread his wings.

He hopped on out of his home

Said good bye to mom and dad

While it was sad to leave them

He knew for once he could be glad.

He moved along to the creek

On a boat made from a Lilly

And on his journey he began

But not before waving goodbye to old man Bily

After many days of travels

He stumbled upon a sea

He looked at the water before him and said

“What a life this will be!”

He started to make a home

Out of nearby sticks and wood

But the sand didn’t seem to hold very well

The way he knew good mud could.

He eventually found a little cave

Where he could soon live

He creeped inside and looked around

What more could this new world give?

As he made his way inside the cave

There was soon another sound

Frozen in his place as fear came over him

He couldn't even turn around.

Finally he heard a sound

And much to his surprise

It was a sea snail named Francis who said

“Would you like some of my flies?”

The frog was overjoyed

And not only by the meal

He finally had a new friend

Now he just needed someone’s heart to steal

He lived a decent life

Just Francis and him

But he could feel something was missing

The lights of his heart were growing dim.

He still needed somebody to love

It was time to give it another try

He knew he had to leave the sea

So he waved and told Francis goodbye.

He decided to travel by foot

Which was no easy feat

He moved slower and slower with each day

But would not accept defeat.

After weeks of travel

Living off nothing but grass and grum

He finally made it to a far away land

Known as Tissleworth Kingdom

He didn’t know what was coming

This place was entirely new

Until he stumbled across a beautiful princess and said

W’W’Wh’Who are you?

She said “Why sweetie I’m princess Hanna”

“The Duchess of Tarum”

“I say I’ve never seen you before”

“Where did you come from”

“I came from deep in the Baeuu” said the frog

“But one day push came to shove”

“I had to leave that familiar place”

“If I ever hoped to find true love”

“That is the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard”

The Princess said with bliss

“Here is some good luck for your travels”

And on him she bestowed a kiss.

And then something happened

His flippers turned into feet

The Princess looked at him and smiled

And his future no longer seemed so bleak.
