From This to That

From This to That

By Jeremy Onsinyo

With a concentrated reminiscent thought

You remember your faintest memories from childhood

It could be your third birthday, or a supposed near death experience

But when you look back, you realize how much you’ve grown

Then with even less effort

You begin to recall memories from a sooner time a simpler time

It could be your best friend from kindergarten or your first spanking

But when you look back you realize how much you’ve grown

Then you fast-forward time

You begin to relive your early days of adolescence and blatant immaturity

It could when your first to care about your appearance or when you realize your voice dropped

But still, when you look back, you realize how much you’ve grown

But time has now caught up to you

You start to really think about your future near and far

It could be “what am I going to eat tomorrow, or what can i accomplish with this degree”

But when you look ahead, you realize how much more you still need to grow
