Frozen

I’m trying

I’m trying too hard

shivering in the frozen territory

that I’ve never been before

He’s smooth

smooth like ice

I want to skate on his words

I keep slipping

the failure burns with iciness

that sears into me

deep into me

where I will remember it

long after it is forgotten

when he speaks to me again
