Fruit People; Seed Lives
I peel my Bannana
inside is not the Fruit I want,
but a little cooing baby
staring back at me.
I skin my Apple and take a bite
but not so much to my delight-
I see the core
a little people self-contained,
and all its own.
Growing without me; with my absence
readily in hand
they are prepared for their (silent) Seed Lives.
Shaking my head wondering what this world has come to,
I witness the dull orange sky peel back
and something
truly alien meets my gaze:
a gaping mouth.
