Functions: A Sonnet
The function of the schoolhouse is learning, and the function of learning is to make me a better person,
and the function of becoming that better me is to make the world a better place,
and the only way I know to make that happen is by sharing my dysfunctions with the world,
because the function of those feelings is to do what needs to be done
to turn the world around like a globe on an axis of power that threatens the very function
of why I am writing this poem in this little white text box
whose empty intimidation grows toward jubliation
as I fill it with meaning until it fulfills its function too.
I am a poet, that is my function,
to mince words in an anarchic conjunction
of thoughts and emotions that the world needs to hear because I say so,
because if the world is going to get better then
words are the only way I know how to do it
because that's how I think and that's who I am and that is the function of this compunction.
