Fur Elise
It smells like grass stains and orange kool-aid, but not mixed together of course. Its the same shade of green of the cap for the lip gloss I used to wear everyday in seventh grade, just because my crush once told me he liked the taste of apples. It feels like a much needed drink of water sliding down my throat. Tasteless, but tangible and pure. Its a smile trapped in my rib cage. I can’t quite tell if this song makes me want to fall asleep, or learn ballet until I can dance flawlessly. Sometimes, I want to build a bow and arrow set out of crap I’ve got laying around the house and teach myself to shoot. It makes me want to run across the country, like Forrest Gump. It makes me want to build something with my hands. something so beautiful that it will terrify everyone who sees it. It makes me want to die. Die for something important, something strong. I never do, though. I never do anything. But I do love this song, really. Its the most real thing I’ve ever heard in my life. Every single time I hear it, it takes me to that weird place between laughing and crying. I don’t know what to do with myself, except let the music fill up my veins until they pop. And they do. They always do. I live this song all the time. My skin should be the cover art. I mean I love the music, and the music loves me. So what’s the difference? We’re the same, right? Just one well executed, but hideous blob full of terrible intentions, sitting around all day waiting for someone to think we’re beautiful. That’s me and this song. Me and Elise.
