Futile

What's the point

Of heroism

When all it does

Is turn an attempt to save

A wounded comrade

Into two bodies

Instead of one

What's the point

Of courage

When all it does

Is motivate you

To charge

Into painful demise

With a smile

What's the point

Of honor

When all it does

Is give your foe

Another chance

To get lucky

At your expense

What's the point

Of glory

When all it does

Is inspire others

To follow your spirit

Into the painful reality

Of war

Most of my stuff is inspired by some of the very somber anti-war poems written after WW1. Others can be on a whim or based off fictional works.
