Futile

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not rely on your own understanding.
6 Acknowledge him in all your ways,
and he will make your paths straight.

Walking through life laboring

according to own understanding

grieves the Holy Spirit,

more than anything.

Remember mankind in the beginning

did the same over and over again.

Look at Cain in the first inning,

he gave the best in everything.

Our best is unacceptable,

it does not measure up

to standards that are unknown

but written in the heart.

Our own ideas and intelligence

and all our others smarts

hinder us from childlike faith

for we are mature and grown. (ha-ha)

We seek what is wise and good

in intellect and own ideas.

We search in self a little bit

but mostly study others.

The ones like us we call our peers

together we’ll find the answer.

We’ll feed a few and help the same

we can’t see more to bother.
