the future.

She was the quiet girl that no one noticed

And when she disappeared for a week

No one noticed

She wondered what she had so done wrong

To be diagnosed at the age of 14

Now a type one diabetic

Fighting for the rest of her life

Four or more injections a day

Not including the finger pricks

Now feels like a robot with the wire coming from her side

She's watched her loved ones be hurt by this monster

Hoping to catch her revenge someday

Four years later, she's ready to make a difference

Off to college and pursuing a degree

To hopefully repay this disease for the loved ones it has taken

I am this girl.

I am a diabetic.

I am the future.
