The Future

Because you are our bastard

The thing we created when we inserted ourselves into the vulnerable welcoming, invaginated womb that is your mind

We created you but do not claim you as ours when your essence was brought into this world

Is it because we do not love you?

No, though that is the wished case

It is because we love you that we do not call you ours

We wish you to grow away from us

So you can form ideals and perspectives of life

And one day surpass us

Making all of the glories in the world work to your advantage

You are our bastard

That will evolve from this immature self before us into a powerful force of youth as we age

For you are the idea we left ahead

The idea far beyond our reach to claim

The idea that will form the world
