Future
Dear Future,
In case you were unaware, it is the present; a gift I can't reclaim.
No returns, not money back,
What we give is what we get,
Working, loving, to fill a lack.
I don't want to worry,
no need to stress,
A child among worldly fury,
Confusion is a mess.
We long to return to simpler times,
fingerpainting or cheerio lines,
yet looming ahead, encircling decisions,
acquisitions.
To be a child again,
no worries, all friends,
ironically, teens are kids,
yet put in charge of grand amends.
So much riding on who and where,
what to study, how much to care,
when all I want is some clarity,
something quite a rarity.
To wrap this up,
to conclude my thought,
dearest future,
look out for me.
I worked to make you bright,
work loads never light,
please please help me out.
Wish me the best, as I do for you,
something mild,
a reward for all I did,
Lovingly,
an almost Kid.
