The Future
I’ve spent the last eighteen years of life being cradled.
Living in a small town around people I’ve spent my entire life with.
Now, as I look the future in the eyes with nothing but possibilities,
I feel fear wash over me, not excitement.
As I stand three months away from leaving one part of my life for another,
I feel fear wash over me, not hope.
As I have nothing but opportunities ahead of me,
I feel fear wash over me, not happiness.
