The Future

Sometimes I stop and think awhile:

What will the future hold?

My hands clam up, my heart speeds up, and I ask: What will become of me?

Will I make it through these classes? These labs, relationships, and more?

All these voices, all around me, scream "No!" No!" No!"

"You have not got the brains

to make it through a day. Not one!!"

But then, in the midst of the scorners,

a sweeter voice comes through.

"You are mine, beloved," it whispers,

"Now let me carry you."

"Through all those late nights, labs, and lectures;

through every broken heart,

I will be here right beside you,

You will never be alone."

I suddenly remember, the Father died for me!!

The same one that comforts me now,

chose to carry all my fears.

I have no worries,

no cares worthy of tears

that will ever be able to separate me

from all the love He freely gives.

So I choose to trust the sweeter voice,

to leave my futurel in His hands.

For not my own power,

but by His shall I prevail.
