Future admirer

Dear future admirer,

I know at this point in history I seem to have it all together,

But you must realize that in reality you have it better,

Your life is just beginning,

Mine already mostly gone.

You have a chance to do better.

A chance to stand tall.

See, what you don't know about my past is that I took many great falls.

You see me now, nearing the end of my life,

I look like I have lived amazingly right,

But all I have done is learn from my mistakes that I ponder at night.

You really have no reason to ooh and aah.

Don't use my life as a goal for your own.

I don't mean to sound harsh or falsely meek.

I just want you to understand that you can rise higher then me.

Don't let your standard be merely a human.

It doesn't take much to over-achieve them.

Let your ultimate goal to be just like Jesus.

Although you will always fail, you will certainly attain heights higher then we could.

In conclusion my dear one, I want you to see,

I never was perfect or holy. I'm just me.
