The future of Brianna Bryson (me)

Dear future Brianna Bryson (My Future Self),

As I sit at my desk at Conrad Schools of Science and am contemplating college and my future I become overwhelmed by my choices.  But the one thing I know is that I will be ok.   

I do not know if you are rich or famous, but I am confident that whatever you are doing focuses on giving back to those around you. Life is going to be hard but you will be resilient, you will learn to handle any situation that comes your way. One of the most important things to remember is that you can not and do not have to please everyone in your life, as long as you are happy, healthy, and empathetic your life will be full. There is nothing better than being able to say you are happy in a world full of discrimination, hatred, and uncertainty. You have a habit of looking for all of the right answers to every problem but in life, there are no right answers, so stop trying to live your life so perfect. You need details for every answer, answers to every problem and problems to be figured out but that is not going to happen the majority of the time.You will have to be okay with making mistakes along the way, if that is failing your first test, missing one assignment or just not being ready for a task at hand it is all apart of your journey in growing. As a human being, you have to make mistakes, that is the best way you learn. I hope you learn that not everything is going to go how you planned, you can not shut down because you can not figure something out, you can not stress over things that you can not control, you cannot ignore things that make you happy, you can not allow people to change who YOU are as a person. Do not let the fear of what other people might say or think affect you as much as you do, you have already accomplished so much, graduating high school, being accepted into your top universities, maintaining a 4.0 GPA while working, participating in extracurricular activities such as: being the President of the Minority Student Union, Honors Society, The Upward Bound scholar program.  No matter what you may think now or in the future what you have done in life so far has impacted those around you in a positive way, motivating your friends to continue to work hard, not allowing your friends to give up when they are down and worried about school, making sure that your little sister and little cousins have a positive role model to look up to.
