Future Burnouts

Getting up too early

walking through a place you hate

turning corners to faces shouting

from kids who can’t take it

Teachers held down by state testing

and schools with no money

a system raised on industrialism

a student body raised on bullshitting

You can’t get a job with THAT

its the math that matters

teaching kids to stop singing

just spitting out numbers and letters

Good grades are our savior

and failing is damnation

when will you teach us

that our mistakes should be valued?

You call us the future

but you treat us like trash

we don’t care because of YOU

not because we don’t listen

Now its off to the real world

where nothing is graded

we learned to be students

not to make a difference
