Future Light of My Life

I haven’t met you yet

But I already know you’re my greatest pride

Just the thought of you is keeping me together

You are my strongest motivation

My light at the end of the tunnel

Every little thing I do is for you and only you

I don’t know how you’ll turn out

Will you be more into sports or school?

Will you be timid or a social butterfly?

Will I be there for you when you need it most?

All of this I don’t know

But you can be sure that

Your mom thought about holding you in her arms

Nourishing you, blocking any bad that could arise

Putting you on the highest pedestal she could find

All my achievements will become yours too

And hopefully one day

You’ll go farther than I will

Then we can both look back and see

How far we have both come along
