The future me
The girl I used to be,
I can no longer see.
The drugs, the pain,
it all went away,
away with the rain.
The beatings and feelings,
made me feel so alone.
Sex for drugs,
Actions of a thug,
But would you believe,
I was still loved?
Graduating high school,
Never thought I could.
Told myself my dreams,
are no longer deferred.
Listened to the wise,
and guess what?
surprise,
I made it to college,
before the sun rise.
A life to plan,
sign my name in the sand.
Husband and wife,
I'm actually starting life.
Baby girl or boy,
What will be their first toy?
Happiness at the quick,
I never thought the talk,
would stick.
Life of hell,
Thought I was living in a cell.
But I woke up one day,
and I fell.
Fell for happiness,
Success,
The things that I do;
Best.
Being me,
The future me.
