To the Future Me

Dear Future Me,

I hope you’re reading this and happy

I hope you made mom and dad proud and are able to say your worries out loud

I hope you don’t cry falling asleep dreaming of what you can’t be

I hope you wake up smiling ready to set the world free

I hope you regain the light you lost when you were me

I hope that you don’t compare yourself to others

And I really am genuinely sorry

I’m sorry I tore down your self esteem

I’m sorry that I made you give up your dreams

I’m sorry I bottled up our sorrows and tossed them out to sea

I’m sorry I imagined hanging our stress from trees

I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me, but I hope now we can let our past be

So I wish you the best in all that you do

And hope one day I will get to meet you

Love,

You
