Future Me

I stand at a crossroads

Who am I?

Who do I wish I was?

Who do I want to become?

In three weeks

Four days

Five hours

And six minutes

(approximately)

I will be in college

And that’s overwhelming

I will decide

Soon

What I want to do

What I want to be

Forever

I am staring

At a thousand future “me”s

And I have to choose

Which one will be

Me

But I am only nineteen

I have a lifetime of learning

And living

And changing

Before me

So does it even matter

Who I choose

As future me?

Because future me

Hasn’t done a damn thing

For me

If I’ve never mourned

Who I used to be

Will future me

Ever weep

For me?
