A Future Story

I don’t know where we go on our first date,

Or why I say yes in the first place,

Or how I ask to do it again.

But I do because I think you are special.

I don’t know why I am so nervous around you

Or how your voice makes me smile,

Or what I say that makes you laugh.

But I think it’s because you are special.

I don’t know when we share our first kiss,

Or how I find your hand crossed with mine,

Or what I did to deserve either of the two.

But I think this moment is special.

I don’t know when you become my best friend,

Or why I am so open with you

Or how you bear my burdens with your own.

But I think it’s because I love you.

I don’t know what you see in me,

Or how you accept me with my flaws

Or why I can’t imagine life without you.

But I think it’s because I love you.

I don’t know how I surprise you,

Or where I drop to my knee,

Or what your answer is.

But I know I do it anyway,

Because I love you.

I am just a guy who wants to share poetry with whomever will listen. The fact that you're reading this tells me you are. So, hopefully my poems are impacting you, in whatever way that might be. After all, poetry is all about interpretation, right? Enjoy, and never stop writing.
