For Future Use

Dear James,

In the future, we are sure to be but different people. I am young and hopeful, ready to boldly confront the world. And you have yet to exist. I dread the idea, but perhaps you have been jaded from the rigors of life and have lost sight of the youthful ambission, that I currently emobdy. Or maybe, you have used my passsion and have been able to achieve greater things that I can imagine. The future is quite a fickle thing. In my time, you have yet to be, but is predestined to be created. Everything I do now, in my present, creates your identity. Every inspiration I have, leads to your innovation, every bond I develop makes friends for you, every mistake I make leads to caution for you, and every experience, every moment of joy I have creates memories for you. I hope that when you look back at what I've done, you do not resent me. I pray that I have created a past that is enjoyable to reflect on. But if I have ruined your past then, my utmost apologies. Realistically can you blame me? I am only 18 and have barely experienced the world. I am fueled by my hunger to innovate and change the world. I am as unsure as ever in where to go or what to do. I am still a dumb teenager that is barely attuned to the world. I have so much to learn and so much to live. Though I am unsure and quite uneasy as to where I'm headed, I can't help but to be curious. Even looking back mere months, the entire landscape of my life has changed. I, at one point, was preparing to make the most of my senior year of high school and now I am preparing to savor every moment of it as it is quickly drawing to an end. Memories that I was not prepared to make, are now resonating vividly in my mind. In a ways, I want to cling on to the present as it is the only thing I have ever known but I know that I must move forward. I must boldy face my future despite the uneasiness in parting with the familiar. Your legacy will be my work. You will be the culmination of all my experiences, good and bad. I only hope for you to look back and remember fondly of who you were. My future has yet to be decided, I am unsure of what to come, but I am ready for whatever comes my way.

Sincerely, James
