Maybe one day you’ll remember my bright smile -

The way it lit up every single time I saw you behind that aisle.

You will remember my eyes that once had a spark in them,

A spark that was driven by you in a very gentle style.

You will remember my hairstyle,

And how I always tried to look good for your eye.

By then, I’ll probably already be in exile,

Somewhere far away -

And maybe then you will remember how lucky we were, once in a twine.

In a moment, you will decide to dig into an old stockpile

That stayed away in a drawer for a very long time.

Those pictures of me will give you a motive to search up my profile,

But then you will realize - that call was our last mile.

Maybe one day you will remember me as someone who ruined your life,

And honestly, I don’t even think I’ll be surprised.

Unfortunately, there were too many in disguise,

And maybe that’s why I still cannot let it slide.

Those questions haunt my sleepless nights -

A spark that finds my skin in silent fights.

This summer heat now lives beneath my skin;

No need for sun when the burn comes from within.

Some nights, the paper feels like skin.

Each word a cut that comes from within.

The lines scraped at that scene remind me of your eyes,

Turning my skin into space in search of twilight skies.

It will pass my pain to others, so I just pretend I’m fine,

Although my skin is numbing and clings on every hydration method to survive.

I wrote you a letter that will probably soon be set on fire,

So I don’t think it’s worthwhile.

But it’s finally the time -

I dream that you will come to say goodbye.

And when it is, I hope I’ll cross your mind -

Not as someone who ruined your life,

But someone who will now forever love you,

Drawing rainbows in that plain and lifeless sky.
