gala girl, pretty princess
“pitter patter”
the paws of my little princess goes
no noise escapes her long black snout
because good princesses never shout
as i move past her
to open our back door
her soft black tail thumps the back of my legs:
her version of a warm embrace
bells jingle as i open the door
and though her eyes dart outside
her body does not
so she can give me a kiss before she explores
“pitter patter”
the paws of my little princess goes
as i free her into the world
and watch her feel the warm sun on her black fur
night falls and i am out on the town
committing teenage crime
while my princess awaits my arrival,
my stumbling through the front door at midnight
gala girl, pretty princess
don’t you wait up tonight
i am not the owner you think i am
but your love makes me want to do right
without you, pretty princess
my nurturing side would still lay dormant
and i would have missed the sweetest thing
to ever touch my cheek: your kiss
“pitter patter”
the paws of my little princess sound
as she jumps into my arms
gala girl, i never want to let you go
