A Gallant Soldier

A gallant soldier,

A courageous, brave man,

One who will fight,

To protect his homeland.

He doesn’t look back,

As he is whisked away,

After saying everything,

To his loving family.

Even though on the outside,

He shows no fear,

On this inside,

He fights to hide a tear.

When in battle,

He gives his best,

Never stopping,

To take a rest.

You spend so much time there,

In that unforgiving place,

None of us here,

Even have a taste;

Of what you do,

Every single day,

Just to make sure,

Freedom’s here to stay.

This is why I idolize you,

A courageous, brave man,

So I and many others,

Stop to give you a hand.

And even if life now,

Feels like a maze,

I hope you still have,

Happy Holidays.

So do your duty and,

Come home soon,

And though we haven’t met,

I miss you, too…
