Gallow Mans Blues

Dead man walking! Dead man walking! Dead man walking! Dead man walking! Amongst a background of silence, that is the chilling desolate call that I am forced to hear. A call that clearly reveals to me, my certain demise is near. I think to myself why me? why me? But then i recall entering my victims house, murdering him then jumping over his fence. I remember the courtroom, the jury, and being read  my sentence. The room was so silent it almost contained a force. I looked at all the jurors then the judge, held a face of stone and showed no remorse. I felt like a pig about to be slaughtered, gutted, cut up and cooked. Everyone in my surroundings wore stale and evil faces, no one showed any compassion, not an inkling not a spec. The judge looked at me and nonchalantly forced me to hang by my neck. Dead man walking! Dead man walking! Dead man walking! A man's being, his legacy and the complete essence of his life can be destroyed with an utimely death. It robs humanity, rottens the soul and brings it to unworldly depths. The guards look as if they're watching the death of a sick and weak animal. Going outside there is an unwavering, electrical chill in the midnight air. A crowd awaits anxiously for my death, while the priest wears a sorrowful face of sympathy trying to show that he cares. The moon so high up in the sky creating living and breathing shadows. I inhaled deeply as I made my odyssey onto the gallows. I long for the precious freedom of my eternal lifes dawn, yet my time on earth simply goes on. I have no family, or anyone that cares for me to watch me die, all I have for personal witnesses are the stars in the tar black sky. Approaching each guard, I make sure to mercilessly look each one straight in the eye. The rope is put around my neck by the executioners long, haunting robust fingers. It itches, burns and feels incredibly tight. He binds me at my wrists and ankles, I feel trapped like a poor tortured beast ready to bite. In the past I was imperceptible to death so I blindly led a life of anger and hate. The tight rope around my neck makes me realize its my time to dance with fate. The thoughts of an afterlife worry me, they run on and on in my mind. The weight of a sinners life is beginning to take its toll. I see a little demon moving about the crowd, sent by satin himself to exasperate my soul. I dream for the moment that this ordeal is done. I long for the precious freedom of my eternal lifes dawn, yet my time on earth simply goes on AND ON! Looking back on my life I see it was full of malevolent decisions and crippling vices both in excess. All those disturbingly meaningless choices have earned me this eternal rope rest. Life's end is about to grab me like a worm entering a beautiful blue birds beak. Im preparing for the most important encounter of my life. waiting for ill colored death to kiss me on the rosie red cheek. All these thoughts running through my head, at the heart of them is pressuring, paralyzing, pittless fear. Fear is prevention of life, that life aimlessly throws at you, I fear both the executioner and the crowd for what they're here to do. Every part of my being wishes for this to be completed, for it to be over and finally done. I grow more and more impatient and anxious as my teeth mesh into my tongue. Never has there been a man on earth so ready and eager to be hung. I long for the precious freedom of my eternal lifes dawn, yet my time on earth simply goes on, AND ON, AND ON! There is a debt that I owe, that I am so anxiously appetent to pay. Like a baby about to be birthed I am ready to enter a new world, as I begin to hear the priest say. We give you glory as we commit this soul into your arms in everlasting peace to be returned to God the father, creator of us all. The executioner puts the black sack over my head, I yell to speed him up, eager to answer deaths call. To have a good life you must travel down a good road, I brandishly took the trail of the pathless. The executioner lets the trap go, the ground escapes my feet as I enter complete blackness. I long for the precious freedom of my eternal lifes dawn, I have received it so I eternally embrace eternity as it simply goes on and on and on and on.
