The Game
A new player to them
but an old one at heart
so I put on the mask and
let the game start.
Blocking out all possible targets
I guard my pieced as if
Im trying to block out
a heart ach yet
I play the game.
At my all time low
and still taking the blows
I sit and play the game.
Hahaha there goes the smile on their face
know exactly how to make me move
out of my place
yet I sit & play the game.
I roll the die & take a chance
hoping the numbers will land right
so i can advance
so i sit & continue to play the game.
Step by step, piece by piece
I get closer to the finish line
feeling victory crawl up my spine
so I sit with antisipation & play the game.
Smile wiping across my face
as I inch closer to first place
preforming my victory dance
and taking my last chance
so I sit & play the game.
BOOM! what just happened?
In comes a new player
who no one expected to win
my victory is fading again
I take my chance & play the game.
Roll after roll & chance after chance
I began to crawl lower on the victory ladder
with depression I sit and play the game.
"Loser" is written on my face
as the new player
takes first place,
with envy and anger
I quit the game
wondering why I can
never win this race.
