Game Day

It starts normal, an uneasy but a usual feeling,

as the earth spins a bit longer I begin to feel the excitement.

Meeting with familiar faces, the air seems fresh.

Lacing my boots puts a smile on my face, a rush of warmth anticipating

the future. The grass smells sour today, the ball float across the field.

The breeze gives me a shiver down my back, time doesn't exist.

I hear the same sound coming from atop the stadium, names.

The game begins, it comes natural, no thoughts just instinct.

The game ends, I look down to the now gloomy grass for answers, we lost.
