A game of Doubt

The truth of of the matter is but a lie,

A well-bred life in hideous disguise,

But at least a lie has a reason,

rather than foolishry or treason.

This game we play continues to be vile,

A group of idiots laughing at Death’s trial,

Claiming hope is distracting them from despair

When the exit from hell is sitting right there

We can’t seem to fight so we don’t even try,

Hearts all around stop, we just sigh.

“What a shame,” We say as they call out for help,

“No other way, I s’pose.” As we try to save only ourselves.

Hypocrisy is the all powerful doctrine,

He himself incarnate in our sovereign.

We can’t seem to escape this torrid fate

Arrested from the fear of our own hate.

2014-2015?? (formerly arosecoloredsky) I'm a junior in high school, in Lit Mag which is my schools version of a poetry club, and going into either computer software engineering or animation. Possibly both. I'm hoping to write and animate children's shows or work in the video game industry as an independent creator. Also involved in VEX and proud to be the only non-male on my team. 1/10/17 I'm a freshman in college, going for game design; a blend of my passions and a route to coding professionally. Unfortunately I no longer have the kind of poetic output options I used to, and I still have a whole lot to say.
