Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May

“Gather Ye Rosebuds While Ye May”

By: Wardah Elghazali

Picking roses

One by one

Two by two

Beauty was born

And Beauty will soon die

Hold tight while you can

Young nymphs

Feel the soft grass

Under your bare feet they lay

Stomp the wet ground with every step

In the garden of gods

You swiftly go through

Picking roses

One by one

Two by two

Capture the beauty

Capture the time

Capture it while you can

Keep it hidden and safe

Time will fly

Don’t break its wings

It will soon die

Feel the smooth petals

Feel thorns that protect

Feel it before it slips away

Beauty was born

And beauty will soon die

Hold tight while you can

Picking roses

One by one

Two by two
