Geekdom

Geekdom - a word only to me A word that speaks sic-fi and Lord of the Rings A labeling word as judgmental as can be But this word is so much more to me. I am a born, raised, proud geek And this i embrace, it makes me unique And I'm not terrified by jocks or bullies I mean how cliche would that be?! No, geekdom is something much more important A word stricken with such force that when Something or someone tries to mock it It remains steady, resolute, like the four horsemen. But I've gotten off topic, strayed from my path The word geekdom means not a mastery of math Nor one of science, please don't make me laugh Geekdom is simply to geek out too much maybe provoking wrath. And now that you know what it is, this is why I write I have been accused of this crime at slight So I write this poem not to delight But to protect my image, so important, so bright. Geekdom is not a crime, I must say Even if quote Star Wars each day Or speak Klingon openly without delay I mean I don't...of course, but who cares anyway. I am a declared geek, and proud to be But so few of us act so nerdy And even if we do, this is a free country So don't make geekdom bad, stop judging me! I declare today geekdom to be new To have a new meaning, one a little less rude That to "geek out" is a great thing, if you feel in the mood Therefor geekdom means your just that much cooler, like you know who! And by the way, to all of you nay Sayers The people who say "There are too many video game players!" Just let me say, we geeks have many layers And through life, through you, we are still innovators. So here's to my geeks, and to geekdom Let us never forget where we come from Nor who the best captain is (Picard wins, duh!) Here's to the geeks, the best family there ever was.
