Gentle callused hands

Your callused hands running through my hair,

Not me running away from your callused hands.

Your love for my silly jokes after a hard day,

Not scolding me as you might think they’re kinda lame.

Your important presence on the phone,

Even when you’d rather be gaming alone.

It’s the  magical combination of what you do

And what you don’t.

Thank you for opening all the doors you can find for me

Thank you for sending flowers to my doorstep unexpectedly

Thank you for providing endless supplies of chocolate

Thank you for allowing me into your universe

But thank you even more for giving me so much more than just chocolates, flowers, and common gentlemen attitude

Allow me to thank you for the unforgettable…

Thank you for holding me as I grieve my patients

Thank you for calling me on that New Year’s Eve

Thank you for valuing me for being me.

Thank you for loving yourself; truly, it is one of your greatest qualities

Thank you for cooking chicken and broccoli

Thank you for enjoying with me the greatest picnics

Thank you for sending me lit memes and hip songs

Only we understand the strength of our internet bond.

It’s only that strong because when we’re together the world doesn’t stop, we simply run along.

Thank you for showing me your mind as you voice your feelings

Thank you for allowing me into your world as you explain java and weird meetings

There’s no way I’ll ever understand, but it’s okay as long as you’re always by my side.
