Gentle Departure

As my heart begins to beat slowly

Take me to the highest rooftop in town

Lay me down to say my farewell to the sunset

Consuming my flesh as the world around continues

My heartbeat comes to a finale

Though I won’t forget the whispers of the ocean or the howls at the moon

Memories will fade and life goes on, except mine

For all I will have is a piece of what used to be

As the sky gently utters my name one last time

Please don’t weep for me, rather rejoice

For I no longer have to bare this pain

You too will be free of this cycle of hurt one day
