Gentleman At Heart
Every morning I set my gaze to the glass wall, it reflects a person I know to have good intentions deep in their heart. When I brush my teeth I feel the touch of words floating before me as each bristle makes contact with my teeth. I know the feeling of being a gentleman, yet I am afraid to be who I am.
Tears that were never shed have been inside my eyes since I was a young. "Wipe those tears, men don't cry. You have to be a man!" I never agreed with the words of my father.
Knowing what I want for myself is a struggle. Having thoughts drilled into my psyche since birth. I filter the emotions that I find stirring inside my gut. My actions don't reflect the person I want to be.
I am trapped in my own bubble slowly dying due to CO2, created from my own intake of oxygen. I know myself to shed tears when I find myself in bed.
Never have I questioned giving up my seat for someone in need. I cherish the smile they grace upon me.
