Geode
The clicking of my pen is a frantic beat in my ears
Am I too loud?
Am I being an annoyance to others?
No one is watching, I remind myself, no one is listening
The rushed pace of life demanded their attention
Yet my nerves tangled into a complicated knot as a stranger look my way,
And the peppery scent of anger poured into my nostrils.
(and watered my eyes)
Am I the source of his contempt?
Or is he already in the mist of unfortune?
A breath of indignation gathered my attention
(an exaggeration of my own imagination)
It is just a normal exhale of carbon dioxide.
Or it could be at the way I gnaw at my already mangled nails?
Be calm, cool, and collected.
Yet my mind shattered into terrifying shards
Each jagged piece trying to navigate the sea of thought
My eyes start to become acquainted with the floor;
Draping the windows from outsiders;
Hiding the dirty laundry that clutters my brain.
(Just look up, look up)
I peak behind the curtains;
Discovering an intruder.
“Please go away!,” my pupils plead
-towards the intrigued gaze pressing against the fragile glass.
Pushing.
Shoving.
Thrusting.
CRACK!
Toxic liquid escape through the glass remains,
The decadent air pressed against the corroded metal drapes,
pushing out the stench of the dirty laundry.
The light no longer shoving against its once undefeated foe.
The grey-tinted windows nowhere sight,
thrusting the kaleidoscopic view into my brown orbs.
Intruders, or should I call them saviors, have cracked me.
Setting my coruscant soul free.
