Get a Better Mirror

Waking up in the morning has never been this hard.

Feeling like a piece of leftover trash from the junkyard.

Looking in the mirror and hating what you see,

thinking of the things you want to, but cannot be.

You don’t want to believe that all the others are right.

But you feel like you are losing the fight,

with those who think they know what you need

but in reality just want to see you bleed.

Sometimes people don’t ever realize

that words can make you cry

Sticks and stones actually hurt you

and make you rethink what you think you should do.

But remember that even though times are hard,

and you come out of the battlefield completely scared.

The words of others will always make you shiver,

but what you really need to do is get a better mirror.

It doesn’t matter what others think,

because one day you are going to blink,

and realize that everything they said was wrong

and every word said will just made you strong

Strong enough to face the world,

and let your flag be completely unfurled.

Because it doesn’t matter what the world may say,

you just have to cast their judgements away.

All I need in this life is me

It only matters what myself and I see

Without the world, you see yourself clearer.

All you have to do is get a better mirror.
