To Get To Know A Broken Heart
To get to know a broken heart is a puzzle that no one seems to be able to solve. To catch you when you fall is where I'll be. When there’s a hole in your heart, I’ll fix it. But now that I’m on my own, I stare at the ceiling and think about what I believed in. I pretend that there’s nothing wrong, pretending that reality doesn’t exist; it’s all I know how to do. When I look in my heart, I wanna keep the memories but I want it to past and that it won’t last. I won’t leave you alone in the clouds, I’ve waited patiently and even though I’m standing alone in the crowd, I know that I must wonder. Broken hearts and trust is what remains; empty promises are what I’ve realized is all I know. All of my hopes seem to be impossible, I remember that I should’ve listened but now I want to shout it out. Thinking that I’m heartless is a song that everyone has sung to me; heartless is better than hurting. All of this may seem like a punchline to you and there’s no use in fighting when all it’ll lead to is crying. I shouldn’t be so surprised that nothing has changed.
